Fantasies of Outer Space

Born in Nicosia 1988, Mihalis is a multi-disciplinary engineer, inventor, designer and musician. His sound performance is built around devices of his own making, whether it be the peculiar Kyklophonon, his home-made midi controllers, or his collection of custom sequence-producing digital algorithms. Characterised by a deep layering of polyrhythmic patterns, his sound always carries a feeling of drone ambience, creating rich hypnotising soundscapes that stretch up to half-an-hour long tracks, yearning for a balance between mathematical complexity and chaotic bliss.

Mihalis third album for Honeest Electronics is a little different from the previous two. For this first album he used sound from an instrument which he designed and built with his own hands, whereas his second album used the traditional approach of a single piano.

For his third album Mihalis goes deep inside the electronic circuits to provide us with 8 tracks of dazzling ambience and hidden melodies. He shifts his sound between long droney passages and simple never ending motifs managing to keep the album rich in texture and ideas. Mihalis keeps the listener engaged throughout with an immersive soundscape, making you feel like you are floating in dark outer space, anticipating the next cold planet in the never ending universe.
